this weekend, our story began with dusty’s high school reunion.

…his twenty-first reunion, which included an entire decade of class reunions

in his small town nevada. 1985-1994.

we attended an adults~only dinner, and the homecoming football game, friday night lights! husbands 1A school plays 8-man, pvhs won somewhere around 58-0… go panthers!

we attended an alumni volleyball game, where kiana and i played and we all had fun.

there was an alumni basketball game, where the kids ruled the gym
between the scoreboard and microphone…

there was a potluck at the city park with bounce houses,

my husbands older brother lives on a ranch in reno, just outside of the city.
his wife, is an incredible rodeo-queen coach…

they board horses, and auntie trains on average twenty girls who come and go all week long. some of them stay for a few days, some come for one… but everyday there are pre-teen and teenage girls at their ranch, riding horses & training for rodeos.

a girls horse heaven. you can imagine.

last summer {here}, our girls had the time of their lives while they spent five days at their uncle & auntie’s ranch.

this summer, our girls begged to go again,

April 1997- Jane and I had been living in Korea for a year and a few months, teaching English at this time. We were well settled into the culture and life there and had a Korean speaking class we attended 2 times a week. To get there we had to take our scooter (our main form of transportation for the 2 years we were there). If we rode together, Jane would ride on back and I’d drive slower, albeit by not very much, than if alone. This particular morning in April it was cold and rainy… we were late as usual and hurrying to get to class.

We were coming up on a steady bit of stopped traffic with a double yellow median line so as we typically did,

i take you back to 1996.
the year we were married.

as i’ve mentioned numerous time here, on my blog, before…
husband & i taught english in south korea, soon after we were married.
we spent 22 months in south korea.

we took our first vacation away from s.korea in july of 1996,
after we’d been teaching for 3 months.

we bought 2 plane tickets to fukuoka, japan.
we bought our first true ‘backpacks’ for the trip.
we bought our first sleeping bags for the trip.

we were truly ‘backpacking’ southeast asia…

we were only staying one night in fukuoka.
because,

is where these three cuties spent three days

while kiana and i were here.

without question, it was the best three days of their summer.
they love their auntie, uncle, & cousins!

and they love all the fun activities that come with
visiting their home.

thank you, scott family,
for being so-so wonderful!

xoxo.

i take you back to the spring of 1997.

husband and i we were visiting new zealand,
and acquainting ourselves with his incredible maori lineage.

dusty & i had been married almost 18 months.

we were madly in love, traveling the globe, and were constantly taking huge leaps of faith with how many challenges we had stacked against us at the time.

each of those leaps and challenges, bonded us.

created a deeper love.

one such leap, a literal jump…

had us grasping into one another with white knuckles we were both so scared.

husband and i agree, we would not have wanted to jump alone.
