Holidays 2014

Season’s greetings! It’s me, Myla. My mom begged and pleaded and bribed me to write the Christmas newsletter this year. Evidently, she doesn’t have the time to do this task, but a fourteen year old with A.P. classes, hobbies, and an impressive social life does. FYI that was laced with sarcasm since my dad is most proud of us when we are sarcastic. I will attempt to give you an accurate run-down on our life this past year… from my perspective.

Dad: “Dad. Walk it off. Quit whining. Just massage it.” Are currently popular phrases in our house, applying the same sensitive approach our Dad has used on us growing up –

The Elf (hopefully you give it a clever name!) doning BLACK FRAMED GLASSES will arrive in style it’s first day with two sets of advent calendars: Barbie and Star Wars!

one of my favorite events at alt summit is the “sponsor dinners.” on the eve before classes and all the party-ing begins, alt sponsors and the best restaurants in salt lake city host complimentary dinners for groups of alt attendees. you get a great meal and a chance to hang out with some of your favorite blogging buddies.

this year, i wanted to meet and mingle with the talented people from minted, so i signed-up for their sponsored dinner at cucina tuscana. minted went above and beyond with the decorations, menu choices, custom notebooks for each guest, and of course the company!

if you haven’t visited minted before,

as my pom pom obsession continues {i currently keep my baskets of yarn right next to the fireplace for creating where it’s warm!}, i have kept the trend going by making neutral pom pom garlands to mix with my holiday decor this season. i shared a garland with you earlier this year, but if you are interested in learning how to make one of your own – you can find the DIY tutorial right here on design mom today.

after you check out the tutorial — follow @see_jane on instagram, re-post the pom-pom image found there today, hash tag #seejanepompom, and leave a comment below for a chance to win one of TWO of the garlands!

friends! it’s almost time to start the advent calendars! december first is eight days away! before i head off to enjoy the day {and weekend} with friends who are visiting this week i wanted to share with you today the advent calendar{s} that we made this year.

sometime in july or august i decided i wanted to make simple, homemade advent calendars for a few of our dear friends and family this year as gifts. knowing this could become daunting i forced myself to start early. after all, they needed to be finished and delivered in november, right?

i took all my favorite details i’d seen on advent calendars via pinterest and created ours.

*new to me*

November 19, 2012

in monday tradition, i am sharing something with you that is ‘new to me’, today that includes introducing one of my friends. julia blake.

julia is one of the first women i met when we moved to massachussetts last year. and she is one of the most involved-in-her-community women i know. from local politics to school council to being the ultimate football momma, this mother of six – five sons and one daughter is a talented woman. (everyone needs a julia in their life when they move to a new city!) as our lives have crossed throughout the past year, we’ve shared many a conversation about what we’re both currently working on – what our latest craft craze is etc.
