regardless of the presence or type of faith in one’s life, i feel Easter simply represents spring, and life. arriving appropriately when things are hatching and blooming and green is finally awakening under blankets of melting snow. it just seems right… to celebrate life and to include family and friends in those celebrations.

we are not seeing the signs of spring here in new england {yet}, since we woke up to a fresh six inches of snow this morning. {ugghhh…} however, we are still starting our spring traditions and this year with something new – an easter egg decorating party!

minecraft valentines!

February 9, 2013

as promised, here are the “boy” valentines for this year. however, i use the term boy loosely – at our house, minecraft is a very co-ed passion. my son kj, and my younger two daughters all enjoy playing minecraft – with that said, kj is the true video game playa at our house, he enjoys playing the game as well as minecraft hosting. so, i really wanted to create something minecraft-related for his valentines this year.

i have been thinking about this valentine idea for weeks and i believe the possibilities are endless. for example, i could have used the word, “mine” a few dozen different ways! finally i settled on wishing you a crafty valentines day!

soon after i had this idea, i asked my very talented friend merrilee of mer mag blog to create the illustration on the front of the card for me.

in our new home we only have three neighbors on our street. very soon after we moved in, we {meaning: husband} had a not-so-great run-in* with one of those neighbors {completely our fault!}. we are still trying to redeem ourselves. with that said, i put “plan neighbor’s christmas gifts” at the top of my to-do list for this month.

while i was at trader joe’s prior to thanksgiving i spotted cute reusable burlap bags, and had the idea to fill them with a few of our favorite things. one of my favorite snacks is smart food white cheddar popcorn. and if you have been to our home –

ok readers, i told you yesterday there was going to be a surprise! it’s time to share our families love of black-framed retro glasses and mr. bean’s style with the world!

this year, we want all of your elves to magically appear around the house in cool eye swag! so, i’ve planned an easy way for you to make them:

  • print the elf glasses template on card stock.
  • trim the glasses slowly & carefully with an exacto knife. i recommend putting cardboard or a cutting board under the paper. using a ruler will help you cut straight.
  • using zots dots, or something similar,
