I just finished reading The Glass Castle, by Jeanette Walls. It was a very good book that I enjoyed from the beginning. It is a memoir going back through the author’s childhood and her strange, dysfunctional family. Her early years were spent living almost as a nomad in the West. They then moved East to live in her father’s hometown, where her dad’s alcoholism really raged. And then to her move at 17 to New York City. Although it may sound sad, the author’s perspective and storytelling keeps it a page-turner and it is not depressing.
